MINNEAPOLIS (AP) Honeywell Inc. said yesterday it will take a$575 million after-tax charge against its fourth-quarter earnings,mainly from losses associated with the sale of most of its computerbusiness.
The charge will result in a 1986 loss of about $380 million andwill complete a massive restructuring that positions the company forthe coming decade, Honeywell said.
Honeywell announced Dec. 2 that it would put its informationsystems business into a joint venture with Compagnie des MachinesBull, France's state-owned computer maker, and Japan's NEC Corp.
