Fed: Janelle Patton's parents arrive on Norfolk for court date

NORFOLK ISLAND, Aug 7 AAP - Ron and Carol Patton have arrived at the Norfolk Island
court house ahead of today's committal hearing for the man charged with murdering their
daughter, Janelle.

The Sydney couple arrived on the island early this morning and said they hoped to learn
as much as possible about what happened on March 31, 2002, the day their daughter died.

New Zealander Glenn McNeill, who had been working as a chef on Norfolk Island, was
arrested in February and charged with her murder.

Outside the court, Carol Patton said: "We expect that it will be a very difficult week for us.

"We have mixed emotions coming back here to Norfolk Island as there has been some very
happy times for us here and it was our daughter's home for nearly three years.

"However, it was also where our daughter Janelle died."

Ms Patton, 29, disappeared while taking a walk on one of the island's roads.

About six hours later, her body was found at an island reserve with more than 60 separate
injuries.

McNeill's committal hearing is expected to last five days.

"We are here mainly to represent Janelle in this legal process and to get as many answers
as possible about what happened on Easter Sunday 2002," Mrs Patton said.
